Review
What a great book! Jessica Levin's Perfect Pairings takes the critical yet elusive concept of networking and makes it simple to execute. She transforms an art (and what many people feel is only successfully done by extraverts) into an achievable asset for your business and personal arsenal. Through the stories of her own personal experiences, along with simple to follow action items, she makes the art of networking achievable for everyone. While reading the book, you can understand why Jessica is not only a successful entrepreneur, but also why people want to know and be around her. The book is proof that networking is not for extroverts only. It's a must read for anyone who wants to advance their career and become that essential connector who enriches people s lives. --James Spellos, CMP, Meeting U

Like peanut butter and jelly, Jessica Levin has created the perfect pairing of practical insights and real life experiences on the art, craft and skill of connecting people. Levin, an extraordinary conduit herself, informs readers how to develop extraordinary partnerships, even sometimes with unlikely allies that move everyone forward together. More than a book on networking, Levin discusses the ins and outs of developing the aptitude and capacity to build, cultivate and influence important relationships. --Jeff Hurt, Velvet Chainsaw Consulting

Jessica strikes the difference between networking versus connecting, two entirely different approaches to developing relationships. She profiles multiple influential connectors that live with a purpose, inspiring the reader to break free from their shell and practice the art. If one connection can change your life, so can one book. --Eric Majchrzak

Networking with sincerity to create real value
By Steven C.
If you are frustrated with conventional notions of networking, Ms. Levin's book deserves your attention. It explains how to selectively connect people who can make each other's lives better in some way. Broader than referrals that meet specific needs at specific times, connecting can provide real long-term value. Ms. Levin's examples show how the resulting relationships, business or otherwise, can run deep and last long. Although each introduction is best made selflessly, connectors reap the benefit of establishing broad personal networks founded on the good will of their actions.

Other reviewers have described the concepts well. Sections catching my attention included thoughts on (1) responsibly connecting people, (2) protecting the integrity of your own network and the networks of others, and (3) examinations of connections gone wrong. Written in an easy style, the book was a quick and pleasing read without being shallow. For my part, I've met Ms. Levin, and am convinced that she practices what she has written.

An easy-to-understand, practical, life-changing book that can benefit almost anyone.
By Graham Gudgin
I was originally going to preface my review of "Perfect Pairings: The Art of Connecting People" by Jessica Leigh Levin with a disclaimer, saying that the author is a personal friend of mine (in fact, she gives me a shout-out on page 80!); however, I realised that being a friend of the author put me in somewhat of a unique position to add something to my review that I think is particularly important. You see, this isn't a book containing armchair theories and "pipe-dreams." I know from personal experience that Jessica practices what she preaches - she lives her life as a "connector."

You're probably familiar with "networking," the technique of meeting people at events, etc., and finding out how those people can help us and vice versa. Connecting, as Ms. Levin describes it, is an alternative that can yield extraordinary and far-reaching results. Here's an example of how the connector mindset works: I may be talking with someone, either in-person or online. I will be thinking of someone in my network who might be able to help this person meet their challenges, or I may be thinking of someone in my network who might benefit from the experience or expertise of the person I'm talking with. On the surface, it's a very selfless act, but there are hidden benefits to the connector, as the author describes.

I always think that one of the signs of a great business or self-help book is that it gets you thinking about things you can do yourself, and "Perfect Pairings" is a perfect example of this. On almost every page I found myself thinking of parallels in my own life and how I could put the techniques and suggestions in the book to immediate use (and the book has inspired me to actually follow through with that); in addition, Jessica helpfully ends most chapters with an action item that pretty much anyone can do. The book also reassured me that, while networking is often an extrovert's game, connecting works well for introverts too.

While Jessica started writing her book with the intention of it being a "business book," she soon realized that the connector mindset could be a benefit to many aspects of one's life, and so the book is full of great advice for not just making business connections, but personal ones too.

In conclusion, this is an easy-to-understand, practical, life-changing book that can benefit almost anyone.

Networking is SO 20th Century...Connecting is the Name of the Game Today!
By Jay Lemming
There are not quite enough good things to say about this book. The phenomenon of networking has been around since time immemorial. But connecting? In Perfect Pairings: The Art of Connecting People, Jessica Levin takes the concept of networking to a new and higher level, one that ends up benefiting not just the person who is helped but the helper as well.

A connector, Jessica explains, cares less about benefiting materially or in a business way from networking efforts and more about helping others. By doing so, relationships deepen, one's personal network grows stronger than ever before and the benefits that ultimately accrue are greater than those enjoyed by the mere networker whose interest in entirely personal.

Using personal examples from her professional and personal life, as well character sketches of some of the most successful connectors she has had the pleasures of working with during her career, Jessica demonstrates the breadth of her knowledge with a light and easy touch. She is entirely and truly a people person, dedicated to enriching the lives of others in whatever manner they may need assistance from a trusted and generous source. She has the creds to prove it as well.

I found myself considering my own personal and professional relations as I read Perfect Pairings, realized I had missed opportunities to be a genuine connector and help others in my own way because my experience was not as great as Jessica's, and, finally, coming to the realization that communities of interdependent individuals dedicated to each other's welfare is about the most important asset a person can have.

It astonishes me that a book on connecting has not been written before but the good news is that the right writer has arrived to tell the rest of the world how it should be done. Thumbs up, Ms. Levin!
