An excellent book ... I found the book insightful, well substantiated and interesting to read ... takes into account key aspects of leadership which are effective and inspiring; namely being merciful, responsible, humble and leading from the heart ... To get the most out of the book, treat it as a workbook for stimulating regular journaling on this topic since there are apt questions at the end of each chapter. I found the questions very soul searching and transformative, and I think they are one of the greatest strengths of the book.

Bravo! Well written, inspiring, and heart-felt book that eloquently links business and compassion

Bias Disclosure: I have been a colleague in arms as a fellow Army officer with the author, Rob Goodson, and a friend for many years. And, I read a draft version of this book before it was published. I am so glad that Rob decided to follow through with his intention to put in words what I know he practices as a person and a leader.
My Review: For me, the book is a reflection of the man who wrote it, as much as it a wonderful opportunity to make a case for the foundational element of great leadership...mercy. Rob points out that this word, to some, is somewhat out of context in the business world. But I believe that Rob makes an eloquent case that leaders around the world would do themselves (and the people they work with) a great service by embracing a bit more mercy. I'm glad Rob makes this link between business and mercy. Business is just people relating to each other, right? Why wouldn't you care for the people with whom you do business and help your business grow? Read the book and you'll understand why Rob writes, "there is indeed a place for mercy and compassion in business; and not only is there a place for such leadership, but that it can lead to a successful, profitable business."

Rob has written a timely and much needed book. In today's economy as companies go through transition, upswings and downswings, more than ever we need to remember America was built by individuals. This book can be used by CEO's, but is just as needed by Team Leaders and those aspiring to make a difference in not only their business, but the lives of those they work with. Kudos Rob, I hope your words of wisdom are taken to heart
