Good explanation of the power and influence of persuasion. The author does a good job of revealing its presence in many aspects of our everyday lives, from personal relationships and business, to TV commercials and government. Although we all use this power many times in our lives, or are affected by it when others use it, most people however are not even aware of it. Persuasion is powerful tool, especially for those who know how to use it effectively. It is good to became aware of it and learn more about it, and this book is an excellent place to start.

A Political Economy of the Middle East is the most comprehensive analysis of developments in the political economy of the region over the past several decades, examining the interaction of economic development processes, state systems and policies, and social actors in the Middle East.

The fourth edition, with new authors Melani Cammett and Ishac Diwan, has been thoroughly revised, with two new introductory chapters that provide an updated framework with which to understand and study the many changes in demography, education, labor markets, urbanization, water and agriculture, and international labor migration in the recent years. The new edition also includes: a new chapter that charts the political economy of the Gulf states and, in particular, the phenomenal growth of oil economies; a new chapter on the rise of "crony capitalism;" and increased coverage of the changes in civil society and social movements in the region, including an exploration of the causes, dynamics, consequences, and aftermath of the Arab uprisings.

Melani Cammett is professor of government at Harvard University. She is the author of Compassionate Communalism: Welfare and Sectarianism in Lebanon, and the co-editor of The Politics of Non-State Welfare.

Ishac Diwan is a visiting researcher at the Paris School of Economics and directs the Economic and Political Transformation Program at the Economic Research Forum. He is the author of Understanding the Political Economy of the Arab Uprisings.

Alan Richards is Professor of Economics and Environmental Studies, Emeritus, at the University of California at Santa Cruz.

A great book, just like its previous edition

A great book, just like its previous edition. I've just used this edition in my class on politics of the Middle East, and, while the book was sometimes a hard going for my students, with my help they cracked it. The text is interesting, conceptual, empirically rich, full of data, and insights. I warmly recommend the book for both undergraduate and graduate courses on the Middle East,

An Advanced Internet Marketer was Humbled by this....Definitely worth it!

Unlike many reviewers here, I had never heard of Ryan Hanley prior to this book being published on Amazon. As a matter of fact, I had no intentions of reading a book on content marketing because I find myself as being pretty advanced in online marketing and thought this would just be a rehash of popular online information. However, some of my favorites in the industry were emphatically recommending this book – which is something most of them rarely do. So, after enough nudges, I pulled the trigger and picked it up.

First off, it became very evident that Ryan is not a ‘self-proclaimed guru’ on the subject like many try to claim but is in fact, incredibly advanced in the subject mater. Picking apart such a monumental subject, he bore into the content marketing process and ethos with precision.

After finishing the book, I will have to say it was worth every penny and ever second it took to read it (time being something I value most). I am super happy I bought a soft copy of the book because my highlighter quickly became my bookmark for it and my pages are pretty yellow and pink.

The good news for many potential readers is that it was written in a way that all levels could benefit from it. Those new to the online marketing world would benefit from it in a major way and I wish this was around when I started. For the advanced? Well, like I started this review, I think of myself as advanced but seriously feel as though I can take my content marketing to the next level. There was definitely a lot of “ah ha” moments and areas I really need to think about in the future.

After reading this book and digesting his information, I am now a big fan of Ryan’s Content Warfare podcast and frequently read his stuff on the subject. I look forward to more ‘content’ from him in the future.

Best content marketing book. Period.

I supported Ryan's crowdfunding campaign on Publishizer.com to get an advance copy of this book. Having gotten the advance copy and read it cover to cover, here are my thoughts:

I can say without a doubt Content Warfare is the best book I've read on content marketing - ever.

That's saying something when content marketing is something I basically build my business and life around, but it's true. If you're not familiar with Ryan, he's a transparent, authentic, and honest voice in a noisy, crowded marketplace...and it's a breath of fresh air.

Grab you're copy today - it will force you to honestly evaluate yourself and your business, begging the question "am I doing my best work?" - a question that more books should force us to ask, in my opinion.

This will get your attention!

The fact this book exists is evidence to why we should listen to Ryan.
He had the balls to step outside a ‘comfy place’ and ask for money for people who were paying attention.
We all stepped up. And to be open about it, I didn't think it would be quite this good. I mean, it is REALLY good.
Not just because I get a mention as a great connector (which was appreciated) but because he tells the story of how the land lies, and most of all how the battle is won.
Ryan is a lover of his life, wife and son Duke; to generalize, on the battlefield he commands attention and mobilizes you into action with every chapter. My advice is to read this with a pen or pencil in your hand, and make notes. If you do, you will start to remap how content marketing, done well, stops being an uphill battle, and starts pushing you out in front.
Well done Ryan. Great work.

A Clear VFR Flight Plan To Success in the most IFR Conditions

Even though words encompass this book inside and out, it is more of a vision which caters to the individual reader. When I use the expression to "Paint The Skies", this is exactly what this book has done. It has personally given me a vision, an internal flight chart, of how to take my life, as it stands, and to have a clear flight path to where I need to make the most improvements to achieve my goals - in a timely fashion. The quotes and humor examples given at the beginning of each chapter were a great addition to the book as well as the Chapter Titles reflecting the alphabetical order of the book title. I also like the summary of each chapter and the ideas of how to take note of my aspirations, follow-up, and how to chart my flight to success. This book not only is designed to help people but definitely is also a very impeccable and detailed mission statement of the author's blog/website. I will highly recommend this book to family, friends, and colleagues on numerous occasions.

She uses these experiences to explain the concepts in each chapter. Make better decisions

This book is about teaching or helping how to make more calculated decisions, which would be most helpful when you're in a company or in business. It doesn't discount the power of intuition but there will just be times that it would be better for us to make decisions based on facts and evidences. This guides us through striking a balance in between. It's also well written and easy to understand. Good read.

A very inspirational - and operational - book on how to transform yesterdays advertising into people-focused, value adding and modern advertising of today. And ultimately creating happy and successful brands and customers!

The book inspired me to think differently, and I am looking so much forward to test the thinking and methods.
