About the Author
Don’t be fooled by her name - Debbie Young is old enough to have had 30 years of experience in journalism, PR, marketing and publishing. An enthusiastic writer and blogger, she now draws on all her past lives to help new authors sell their books through the services of her consultancy, Off the Shelf Book Promotions. On the company's website, she runs a highly acclaimed, easy to follow blog of book promotion tips that supplement and complement the advice in "Sell Your Books!" Sell Your Books

As a self-published author, with lots of books to sell, this book is aimed at people like me. Debbie Young writes in an engaging and authoritative manner, and clearly has many years of experience helping clients sell their books. Even though I know quite a lot about this topic already, and have tried many of the tasks in the book at one time or another, I still found lots here to inspire me and many techniques or ideas that I haven't yet tried.

This book is informative, eminently useful to any author - self published or not - and manages to cover a wide range of topics without skimping on detail. An absolute must-buy for any new author, and a valuable resource for all.

I am reading this book now. She has lots of interesting ideas that are helpful to me. I am trying to publish as an indie for now and I need all the help I can get. She is very energetic and I think I would have to clone myself several times to accomplish the things she suggests.

A well intended book on self-promotion of indie books, ...

A well intended book on self-promotion of indie books, but suffers from dated information and lack of detail. It is a small book (149 pages) so I anticipated a bare bones, straight to it approach to book promotion and unfortunately that’s not what I found. Being British, she used numerous examples that were lost on me—being American.
Though some of her examples could be used in promoting both fiction and nonfiction books, the primary focus was on promoting a nonfiction book.
In fairness, if you are a stark beginner to the concept of book promotion, you might find this book a helpful beginning.

Dr. Morris graduated from Pacific Coast Baptist Bible College and Anchor Theological Seminary. He received his Ph.D. in Biblical Studies from Louisiana Baptist University. Since 1978, he and his wife, Debbie, have served as missionaries in Chiapas, Mexico.
He presently pastors the Baptist church he founded in Tuxtla Gutiérrez and oversees several other churches, missions, and a Christian school. Much of his time is dedicated to training Hispanic pastors and counseling.

A Deeper Appreciation

It surprised my at first when I read this book because it seems like a subject that would not have to have to be formally discussed. Unfortunately, it appears that I am mistaken as most people have lost what appears to be the most appropriate manners in being good Christians. I believe in order to have the most beneficial relationship with Him ethical living and all that it entails do need to be given its due discussion and this book does just that. I thoroughly enjoyed the overall message of Dr. Daniel Morris in this new book Ethical: What You Must Know to Build Trust and Maintain Genuine Relationships which is having ethics is honorable. Dr. Morris shares in the mere seven chapters how to find the right balance of ethics in all areas and I have only once complaint being that I wish for more. It is a fast and easily understandable read. One not to be missed. I received a copy for this review from Life Sentence Publishing and all opinions are my own.

Great Reminders for Life!

I really enjoyed this short little book about living Ethically. Dr. Morris made what could be a dry subject pretty interesting with stories and applications. I think it would be a great book for all Christians to read and then for them to think about how to teach these things to their children. I found it to be a great reminder of how we are supposed to live.

Toward Christian Ethics

The Christian life should rightly be a constant series of choices between right and wrong. If we are change by the power of God and are devoted to follow after Christ, then that should be demonstrated in the choices we make. Life is lived out in a very complicated world. The black and white of right and wrong is many times colored in shades of grey. How are we to make those decisions when the right way is not clearly seen? How can we teach new disciples to make these difficult decisions? Dr. Morris has created a guide that can be used just for that.

Far from being able to list out a series of circumstances and what we ought to do, Dr. Morris presents a set of principles for the Christians to consider. It is a straight forward book, and written well. Dr. Morris' book would make an easy text for group studies among young Christians, as well as a great book for individual study. It is well written and without complicating the subject with overly Christian language that could make it difficult for new Christians to follow. Dr. Morris lays out a simple set of principles to move new Christians toward a biblical and ethical skill in discernment. This is a book that I would recommend to Pastors looking to teach ethics to young believers. Many times Christians abstain from things out of tradition or instruction. This is a great book to put meaning behind our restraint. It also offers many principles to fill in the gaps, when the word is silent on what believers ought to do. This principles can be put to work when we find ourselves choosing between to lesser evils. When we feel stuck between two poor choices, then these principles properly applied can be a comfort to our conscience.

Get your mind right about how Chinese work instantly in one sitting. Incredibly helpful!!!

After a really bad day and fairly sure my job was going to end soon, I woke up at 2 in the morning unable to sleep from worry. I couldn't understand what I was doing wrong and why I couldn't seem to move my projects forward with my China employer. I work remotely and am in the USA. I am diligent in my work. I work with a purpose and focus. I have a sense of urgency. I strive to meet deadlines. I problem solve. I think independently. So why were deadlines coming and going without progress? Why couldn't China to attend to the projects the same way? Why did there seem to be such a laissez faire attitude by them on such incredibly important issues? Why did we set project plans with dates attached but never meet the date? Why did no one care about these important business issues so critical for success? These were the things keeping me awake.

I started surfing and stumbled across this eBook. The price was right so I took a chance and the immense relief I felt after reading it changed my entire perception of my China-USA socio-relationship (I made that word up.) I now understood that I wasn't doing anything wrong. These things occurring are just cultural differences. They simply don't attach the same level of urgency, diligence and accountability to work efforts as I do. We strive to reach a goal. They laboriously plod along to reach "almost" or "sorta there."

I learned that it isn't them that needs to change. You will never change thousands of years of programming in an ancient culture. I learned it was me that needed to change. To not worry. To not badger them. To not project my American type A work ethic on them. It only created friction. Better that I find strategies that I could live with. Dates, plans and goals often change on a whim. No longer would I fret these. Basically it came down to stop worrying, do the best I can, be flexible and roll with it.

This book was short. I read it in about and hour but the wisdom it imparted was pivotal in understanding the differences in approach between the China and westerner mind. If you need a book that quickly, concisely and has great stories/examples to help get your mind around these concepts, buy this book. You will be happy you did.

Amazing guide for a newcomer to China

I've been working for about 8 months in a Chinese company where I'm the only expat. So I'm really familiar with most of the issues between western and Chinese business cultures. Every problem which is described by the authors might be faced by the foreigners working in a Chinese company. This book gives some precious tips of managing Chinese employees. If you're planning to work in China - you should definitely read this book to avoid a "heavy" cultural shock which will happen anyway.

i've known and managed Chinese in China over the last 20 years. This inexpensive short essay (48 pages is a gross exaggeration) summarizes all the significant issues. It is a must read no matter how much experience you have.

The only shortcoming is that it doesn't have much in the way of ideas how to deal with those issues. If it did it would be worth 100X the price!

Candlesticks are used by technical analysts to determine when to enter and exit trades. Sounds simple enough, but what can you really do with that information? A candlestick chart shows the high, low, open and close for a security each day. The wide part of the candlestick is called the “real body” and tells investors whether the closing price was higher or lower than the opening price. The shadows show the day’s high and lows and how they compare to the open and close. Candlestick patterns that indicate a change in the existing downtrend of an asset are called Bullish Candlestick patterns. Erik Cortez does a fabulous job explaining 14 trading strategies based on major bullish candlestick patterns. It’s a must read for those who want to learn more about technical analysis techniques.

Candlestick Pattern Explosion

I’ve read several books on candlestick patterns so it was great to find one that covers a ton of different types at the same time. I can’t believe how many pattern types were explained in this book. I’m very happy at the amount of content. There were many types I never heard of before like, the belt hold and the three white soldiers and the tasuki gap.
It’s a little overwhelming, but very informational. So many great ways to indicate what the market activity is and narrow down your predictions along with indicators and oscillators. There are a lot of rules you need to follow when making use of candlestick patterns. I knew some of them already, but this was a good reminder for me. I’ll be reading it again to pick up on more info. A great candlestick guide.

Definitely not my favorite

I've read several books on candlestick patterns and I must say this was not one of my favorites. I'm not impressed with the small amount of information that was presented on each of the major candlestick patterns. The writer tried to present so many patterns but failed to provide adequate information on all of them. The only thing I liked about this book is the use of graphs in the presentation of each pattern.

Extra filler, Still a Very Good Book

I purchased the kindle edition. I would've easily given 5 stars if it weren't for the methods used to add to the page count, ie: extra spaces here and there, blank pages for "making notes", and half the book is chart listings that out date as soon as they're published. But it's a very good book otherwise. It's informative and covered a few angles that I (a halfway experienced investor) hadn't considered. It explains the whys and the ways to diversify your portfolio. Very useful information for a very low price.

The version in English is required reading (and discussion) for my staff.

How could you NOT pick-up a book authored by a businessman who calls himself “Antarctic Mike”?! This gem of a book presents the breakthrough concept of practicing extraordinary leadership by emulating the great Antarctic explorer Ernest Shackleton.

Shackleton is considered by many business experts and scholars to be one of the greatest leaders of all time. OF ALL TIME! So enough, all ready, with managing by wandering around—hopefully in one short minute—or by using mice as your role models—or throwing fish at people.

By anchoring leadership qualities to riveting stories from Shackleton’s Antarctic adventures, this book and its lessons will stick with you for the rest of your life.

I was fortunate to have been a part of one of Mike's seminars. Everybody in the room could not get enough of Mike's story, and hung on every word of this riveting life experience. I had previously read the book "Shakeltons Way" which made Mike's story that much more exciting for me.

At the time, I knew Mike was writing a book and I have been anxiously awaiting the publishing. I just ordered the book and can't wait to read it, as I am sure I won't b able to put it down. As soon as I read the book, I'll be back to provide my assessment.
