Not what I was expecting

This is a good book but not what I was expecting. This is for an established company wanting to work on their image etc.
Not so much for a very young start up with little or no advertising budget. Maybe I'll read it again in a year or two and it will be of more benefit then. Cheers

Wow, if I could give this 10 stars I would, really. This book REALLY REALLY REALLY inspired me. I'm so glad that Steve and Allison took the time to write this. Me and my wife are currently working on launching our very own pressure cleaning business. This book confirmed so much to me, spoke VOLUMES to me, encouraged me, etc. I like the way that Steve calls people in this business up to a new level of integrity and service and it inspired me that I don't just have to have a little side business with this, I can actually build a successful company through pressure washing. I read a few other e-books, but none as thorough and inspiring as this one. They've obviously done their research and are giving a veteran's perspective on this business. I'm not able to implement everything here at this point in my business, BUT I now have a bigger vision, clearer goals to shoot for, and a ton of inspiration and motivation to keep moving forward and go as big as I'd like with my business. Thanks Steve! Thanks Allison! For setting the bar higher! Now when's part II coming out!?

Outstanding practical, detailed advice for getting out of debt, saving & investing, and changing your attitude toward money!

Dorethia Conner Kelly owns a financial coaching service, and she's heard all of the ways that her clients struggle with money. I've helped a lot of military readers sort through their financial problems, and I highly recommend this book for every reader.

Some people perpetually complain about not having enough money, or needing to borrow more, or avoiding bill collectors. They're stressed out about their financial problems and worried about their debt. Others have grown up with few money skills. They never really learned how to manage their finances or limit their spending, and suddenly they're unable to cover their basic expenses and confused at where they've spent it all. They've never even seen a budget, let alone learned how to set one up. Instead of managing their money, they see it as a mysterious force that's ruining their lives and keeping them from achieving their goals.

Ms. Kelly knows that the way people talk about money will affect the way they handle it. In #MoneyChat, she changes their talk and she puts them in charge of it.

She breaks down her book into three sections: getting out of the debt hole, reaching solid ground, and then investing for your goals and retirement. She's included a section on dealing with money while you're dating and how to build a strong financial relationship as a couple. She's also included chapters on the problems that she's seen in her clients: gambling, payday loans, and not paying taxes. (One man lost his family over scratch-off lottery tickets.) People have to gain the skills to deal with the behavior that's causing their problems.

Ms. Kelly combines her practical advice with a dose of tough love and plenty of encouragement. You'll also practice the skills to gain your own money mastery: you put her advice to work. She shares stories from her life and about her clients to show you how to deal with adversity. Then each chapter is filled with action steps, checklists, and homework.

No fluff. Real advice for real people with real results!

Forget about the fluff and reading things about money you simply don't understand. This book is to the point with practical examples and real life scenarios and solutions. I felt like I could relate to a lot of Dorethia's clients and her easy-to-understand action plans made me feel like it was possible to get back on the right track with money.

She leaves no room for excuses. You could talk about how it's not possible to earn extra income, get out of debt, or invest, but her approach and guidelines won't allow it. I have already started putting in place some of the actions steps and I'm gradually seeing results not only in my finances, but how I'm communicating about money with my spouse.

Dorethia knows what she is talking about. I've read a lot of personal finance books, but #MoneyChat The Book really gets to the heart of money matters with sound, practical advice. A must-have in your library!

MoneyChat is a must have guide to include in your library. Lay offs, unexpected expenses, and the challenge to save money are all too familiar in most households. Many of us want to save money and get out of debt, but don't know how.

Dorethia Conner Kelly to the rescue! This book outlines practical and easy to follow steps to change your financial outlook. As a parent of a college student, the section on college planning truly gave information I wished I knew years ago.

I also want to give the younger generation in my family a better financial start in life, so I'm purchasing copies for them.

Don't keep this information to yourself. Get a copy for your family and friends that need to get out of debt and manage their money.

Finally, a tax book that makes sense! It answers all of my questions. It's a great supplement to sometimes stark and uninformative income tax software. The Index and In-Chapter Tables of Contents make things easy to find. I just click and I'm there. My favorite part, it covers a lot more than other tax books. I highly recommend it.

Great guide with some interesting sections

I liked this quick guide on Small Talk. I liked that there were sections on "How not to be creepy" "How to keep the conversation going" and a less talked about area, "How to end the conversation." Overall, I liked what I found here and I'm glad I didn't have to read four chapters about why the author wrote the book, and could rather, dive right into the content!

Clear and concise

Short and to the point, this book gives great tips for some of the most common questions around small talk. As the author says small talk is all around us and its up to us to become better at it and not hide. I liked his tips especially around entering and exiting rooms.

Good Framework

Bought on a whim after a few too many awkward encounters at the water cooler. Was skeptical but picked up some good frameworks to avoid awkward conversations - don't know if it's a man thing but the logical approach appeals to me - looking forward to using them

Great idea but not much value in the book itself

The book can be summed up in this sentence... Choose one word (or let it choose you) to focus on for the year to help guide you toward whatever goal you have chosen. Most of the book reiterates this same thought in each chapter. It may change your life or it may not, and while it's a great idea, there is no need to purchase this book for $10 to choose a word. I'm all for buying a book to support an artist, but this book is more like a marketing piece for the corporate world, as nearly every "success story" in the book is of a company that purchased a copy for every employee to effect change. Save your ten bucks and just choose one word.

Thoughtful & Thought-provoking

Easy to understand, easy to follow. Great concept!

If there is a downside to this book, it spends a LOT of time at the end reporting on how different groups used this technique. For me, these went on a bit long.

I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this book...and in fact, I have recommended it.
