The best comprehensive review for the GMAT.

I was given a copy of this to review for free. However, my opinion is unbiased and is just what I personally think.
First off, this book has a lot of information inside of it. It goes into detail about each part of the test, and offers a review (or some might call it a study guide) for all of the things you need to remember from whenever you learned it in school. There's a lot, I admit, but in addition to the text, there's links to videos to help you remember and reabsorb all of these concepts. I really appreciated the videos because sometimes when I read, I end up skimming over things and not really thinking about what they mean or thinking about them at all. The videos were a welcome break.
So you get the usual 20 test taking tips. Most are common sense that you should know to do anyway. Others you might not remember to do - like dressing in layers (the testing center I went to was FREEZING and I spent most of the time unable to concentrate).
The book reviews how you will need to perform on the writing test and how they're graded. It's super helpful to know how things are being graded because you can sort of tailor your writing to that. It's like having a rubric on a project - you know what the teacher's looking for. They also told me something I somehow never knew: the writing prompts are available on the GMAT website. WHAT?!?!?!
The book also reviews how to prepare yourself for the Issue Analysis and gives you ideas to get started, work through them, and be successful. I love some of the headers - they make me WANT to read the paragraph and pay attention (instead of zoning out). Weed the garden & Start Your Engines are two examples that were fun to me.
Another item that's reviewed is the Argument Analysis. Many of us are familiar with writing essays, but this one requires skills very different than just writing. This section took me by surprise. I'd like to think I'm good at arguing, but there's a lot of fine details and points that must be considered. So many more than you really think. Add to that the fact that they suggest how to organize your paragraphs and it really helps you organize your thoughts and meet the requirements.
The Quantitative Test is a lot of knowledge and much of it contains numbers. I appreciated that it let you know how many of each type (problem solving and data sufficiency) to expect and the book provided a brief review of the concepts you need to know. The book gives you formulas you need to know and strategies to both remember them and how to use them. They did a good job of including examples and there's links to videos for most (if not all) of them.
The verbal section is divided into the three sections for the GMAT: reading comprehension, critical reasoning, sentence correction. Just looking at the topics, they seem easy. It's not hard to correct sentences or understand what you've read... I think that's a mistake many people make. They think it will be easy and they go into the test unprepared. You get the standard directions that you'll be presented with and then strategies. How to focus on a main idea, what to do if there aren't any key words, etc. This study guide literally goes through each strategy that you maybe aware of (punctuation, verb tense error, etc) and some you probably never thought of or completely forgot since you graduated from high school (misplaced modifier, independent clauses, etc).
After the study guide section (which is what I consider it), you do have three full practice tests. In addition to answers, you are given explanations to answers and on the math problems, they show you how to work it out, step-by-step.I appreciated that there was three practice tests. There is so much information that could pop up and it's hard to cover it all. This set of practice tests felt like a real-life demonstration of all kinds of possibilities. I know it's not everything, but every little bit helps me to be prepared a little more.
At the end of the book are Secret Keys - basically tips to help you succeed. How to manage your time, how to guess, etc. I really liked that they told me how best to break down my time. There's a lot going on on this exam, so it's easy to spend way too much time on one thing. It also helps you to time out the practice tests so you're aware of the timings you will have. It's always great to finish with enough time to review answers and work - so the timings with the practice tests will help.
They will also tell you what your scores mean with respect to college admissions and possible scholarships. If you get math anxiety, be sure to read the section designed to help you work through your anxiety. You can still be successful even if you hate math and it makes your stomach hurt.
Summary: This is a comprehensive review, tip and strategy guide, video lecture, practice, and explanation. I found it to be more concise and better organized than the other review guides I tried. I was very happy with it and the skills I got from it (or recalled from high school). I do highly recommend it.
